Request: SourceFilmMaker Source Code.
I don't know if this fits with the 2013SDK. But Source Film Maker is a very large part of Source. Still used by thousands even to this day. But the age and stability of the software has been starting to show. A lot of limitations coming from the early 2000s that no longer apply. (like the projected texture limit) and it's incompatability with modern versions of the games build on top of the 2013SDK. The ability to mold the software back into the modern era would allow for it's userbase to have an easier time working with it. The Source Engine community is one of the most passionate communities out there, and with access to the inner workings of the software would be able to improve, stabilize and maintain the software for another decade or two.
Hey @Trico-Everfire - Just want to chime in on this real quick. There is a open source replacement for SFM that has been worked on of the past several years by called Pragma Filmmaker. It is pretty far along and supports most if not all the formats that SFM uses. It also does not have the limits that SFM has currently.
You can find it here -> https://github.com/Silverlan/pragma/releases
More details here -> https://knockout.chat/thread/55113
Hope this helps.
God, Valve, release the SFM source code, you're not gonna do anything with it anyway
Lord have mercy Valve please, we are starvin over here making basic QoL patches by hex editing the binaries
If you're looking for something that actually uses the Source SDK, I'm working on my own open-source Source Filmmaker tool, known as Director's Cut:
https://github.com/DirectorsCutMod/DirectorsCut
It's in very early development compared to Pragma but integrates in the same way SFM does, which uses the engine tool framework.
Directors Cut is now archived and it seems like the devs took down the repository :(
