[CS 1.6] coordinates on the overview are distorted at 16:9 aspect ratio

I'm assuming the game calculates coordinates based on aspect ratio rather than the picture, and this is the problem of incorrect display of coordinates in the overview

It seems to be already reported a long time ago: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/226 But somehow the moderator thought it was related to Steampipe beta although it was a long-standing bug.

But this problem is still present. Anyone can log into the game and see. I assume that in VGUI, getting coordinates is tied to the aspect ratio, which I consider to be an incorrect implementation, because it breaks a lot, for example, the World Map in CSCZDS.

Aspect ratio is hardcoded to 4/3 here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/blob/b1b5cf5892918535619b2937bb927e46cb097ba1/cl_dll/hud_spectator.cpp#L1443

That's probably related to this problem.

Line 1443 in b1b5cf5 screenaspect = 4.0f/3.0f;

thats for the HUD the overview is on the "canvas" behind it

Did you know that this bug doesn't exist in CS 1.5?

So, they broke something that was working before, and that isn't a surprise when it comes to VLV. 😏🤦‍♂️
