[CS 1.6] MP3 Doesen't Work after X minutes

Open JohanCorn opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

During a game session. When you playing so much or minimalze the game. Idk exactly. The client can't play MP3 files until you restart the game.

For example I was playing on a server with roundsound and after X minutes (maybe hours) it was unavailable to play MP3 files. (The rounds sounds doesent work anymore.)

Any idea? Is it possible to fix?

If you can reproduce this, try executing the commands cd mp3info and cd info and show us the results, that should tell us if the mp3 player is actually running or not.

Also try to keep track of how long it takes exactly, and what kind of actions you take that could cause this.

Also, which platform are you on?

@SamVanheer

Me and my friends detected this bug on Windows. This tracks about 45-90 seconds long. And we just playing many times press Win button or ALT + TAB to switch windows.

I will give you more info at the next MP3 problem.

Thanks for help!

And please one more question. I have reported this bug few days ago. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/1096

Can you please reply? Will you add it to beta not so far? This bug is realy annoying. There is no problem if you get no time for that. I just want to know. Thank!

I'm not a Valve employee, i'm just a modder providing assistance but it's up to the developers to fix issues and add them.

Thanks @SamVanheer

I got the logs.

cd mp3info Current MP3 Title: sound\sblock\musicqw3.mp3 Current MP3 Track: 42 Current MP3 Volume: 0

cd info 45 tracks Volume is 1.000000

This happend after about 200 minutes play. And nothing special happend during this session.

Check the value of the MP3Volume cvar when this happens, if it's 0 then something is probably setting MP3 volume to 0 at some point. I don't see anything in the engine that's doing it, so it could be the server doing it. In that case the cvar will need to be made privileged to prevent that.

I almost had a test case for this in HL but it's too unreliable. All I can add is that the file used probably matters. When it happens, I can sometimes get it to happen again after a few minutes of repeating the mp3 commands for that file. If the last command was mp3 loop then the music loops forever until restarting the game. The play/loop/stop commands all stop working.

Attached a file I know it has happened with before: spike_amb_lokp.zip
