[CS 1.6] net_graph 1 red dots

Open healthycs16 opened this issue 12 years ago • 9 comments

On Linux when using net_graph 1 I notice that red dots start appearing after a while (30 minutes or so) when playing on an online server, which clearly affects the bullets registry... and if I restart the game everything is back to normal: no more red dots and better registry. Obviously this is not a problem with the game settings, rates or my internet. Also there's something interesting: if I change cl_cmdrate value from 101 to 102-105 the red dots disappear... TEMPORARILY. Yes I know cl_cmdrate is the maximum of command packets sent to the server per second but switching from 101 to 105 and still getting red dots doesn't make any sense. This issue happens in different servers.

  • I use -noipx launch option which disables the use of the IPX/SPX protocol;
  • I do not port forward in my router to play the game;
  • While playing I do not use other applications which consume bandwitdh.

Edit: I've been playing for more than an hour with 640x480 (monitor reports 1920x1080@60hz) and no red dots... cl_updaterate 102 cl_cmdrate 105

Edit: it has nothing to do with resolution, refresh rate, or cl_cmdrate. The online servers are bad or there's some issue with the game because restarting solves the problem temporarily.

I have the same issue, glad it's a recognized problem. For me red dots start coming in exactly after 2 hours and 16 minutes (I've timed it a few times).

  • Changing cl_cmdrate from 105 to 110 temporarily fixes it, but the bullet registry is not what it originally was. It's not placebo. I've tested it with ak-m4 single bullet tapping. The shots have like some sort of a delay.
  • Note: Even then, the red dots start appearing again in some time then cmdrate 115 fixes it (this time duration I didn't measure).

The only thing that fixes it is quitting the game which is not an ideal experience.

Has anyone been able to fix it?
