Same bug happens on Linux since the first release. The only workaround for me is to use developer console with say (or say_team) command.

Hey, this has been an issue for close to 6 years, is this going to get any attention, while I can use the dev console as a workaround I must say that it is not a good experience, and when you want to add the : character, you have to make sure you wrap your entire message between double quotes which is one more thing to remember which makes the experience once again worse than it could be.

I really hope that you will give some attention to this bug in the near future
