I can't change brightness in game

@drgnak, this is the intended behaviour (shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlMUcyBrsNc#t=557), and has nothing to do with this issue. Please remove your comment.

On Linux the Brightness slider should show up as "DISABLED" due to it not being implemented. Is it not like this for you?

davidw-valve avatar Sep 26 '14 21:09 davidw-valve

@davidw-valve, it is implemented and working for me.

EDIT: Make sure you're not running it windowed, because it will be disabled in that case.

While the slider shows up as "DISABLED" in windowed mode, the brightness setting is still applied, so in my case the whole desktop gets brighter.

Can someone please confirm this is still an issue since the 64 bit client update?

Hi, I'm with this very same issue, the brightness slider is enabled but never worked, even in full-screen mode. @Tele42: I'm running Steam client (32-bit) and CSGO (64bit) and this still an issue.

Most of users with this issue I've found on google (here and here) are AMD/Intel gpu owners, is it possible that it do not affect nvidia hardware?

I'm hitting this as well on Ubuntu 16.10 with an Intel card on 4.8.0-34-generic

Temporary workaround $ xgamma -gamma 1.7

I may be hitting issue #443 , as they use the same or similar driver.

Having this problem on Nvidia currently. Switching to Vulkan with the -vulkan launch option works for me, though that's not exactly a fix as using Vulkan has it's own bug that causes massive stuttering mid game

I am playing CSGO on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I switched color mode from computer monitor to television. It seems to work for me.
