VAC not connecting since Kernel 6.14.5

Open DEvil0000 opened this issue 7 months ago • 2 comments

I am playing CS2 on Fedora 42. With Kernel versions 6.14.5 and 6.14.6 I get kicked from games and can not reconnect. It said VAC can not connect and a message links me to some KB article (2117-ILZV-2837) which looks old and unrelated. Everything works fine with Kernel 6.14.4 and older. Please fix this for newer Kernel versions.

PS: Steam support told me to open the issue here.

hardware info just in case: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H Nvidia 3050

I'm on Arch kernel: 6.14.6-zen1-1-zen (never had this issue, even on 6.14.5) works as expected.

I'm on fedora 41 with kernel Linux 6.14.9-200.fc41.x86_64 and I have issues keeping the connection alive with the VAC servers and I got kicked.

20 years old account.. kinda scared to debug this tbh.

maybe - just maybe - it may be some combination of kernel and nvidia driver or other software component.

could be, i'm using a Intel Arc A770 (Mesa Driver). no issues at all with that.

Ubuntu 25.04 6.14.0 amd 5700 xt and getting the VAC cannot connect about once a day. Usually after playing for an hour or so. Rebooting fixes it for a bit, but then get booted after a match or two. I only play arms race and death match, so nothing competitive. Used to happen occasionally, but been happening nearly every time I play CS2 for about a week.

using arch since over 2 years. never had this problem with my old nvidia gtx 1070ti or my new intel arc a770 which i use for over a year now. not one kernel gave me this vac problem, currently at 6.15.5
