Request for Action Against Public CS2 Cheat Repositories on GitHub
Hi CS2 / Valve team,
When you search “cs2 github” on Google, the first result is the GitHub Topics page where dozens of repositories offering fully-functional, regularly-updated Counter-Strike 2 cheats are listed publicly, some with even more stars than this Repository.
Hosting and distributing these repos directly violates Valve’s terms—specifically the Steam Subscriber Agreement (SSA) and the Steam Online Conduct Rules.
Steam Subscriber Agreement § 4 – Online Conduct, Cheating & Process Tampering
- “You agree that you will not create Cheats or assist third parties in any way to create or use Cheats.”
- “Valve may restrict or terminate your Account … for any conduct or activity that is illegal, constitutes a Cheat, or breaches the Steam Online Conduct Rules.”
- “You may not use Cheats, automation software (bots), mods, hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software … .”
Steam Online Conduct Rules
- Cheat – “Examples of such prohibited behavior include: running cheat programs; smurfing; artificially boosting your match-making rank.”
Because these public GitHub repositories “assist third parties … to create or use Cheats,” they fall squarely under the prohibitions above.
I respectfully ask the CS2 / Valve team to:
Notify GitHub of the violations and request takedown under the GitHub Terms of Service or via DMCA where applicable.
Thank you for reviewing this matter! Best, salbei-bonbon
I agree that there are too many cheaters recently, especially those using silent aimbots and wall hacks with purchased fake accounts. In some cases, it seems that the aim is controlled by AI rather than a live person. The aim of a live player moves in a pattern that can be immediately recognized and counted.
We need radical measures to ban HWID for one month, three months, six months, and one year.
Another problem in public casual servers is when players come in parties of two, three, or four and use the free camera to leak each other's information through Discord voice chat, which greatly spoils the game. You need to remove the free camera and leave it only for their team so that party players don't leak each other's information. This is also a form of cheating.
the free camera is a cheat thing and not a cs2 thing, the spectator free camera is only possible to use when spectating which is not a cheat itself and is only available in deathmatch, casual and arms race.
regarding the cheat repositories - they'll never get taken down as nobody at valve cares about that stuff + it's too much hassle and you can report them yourself if you want to.
