Baggage Consistently Crashes Many Versions of NVIDIA Driver on Linux
Your system information
Arch Linux 6.7.6-arch1-1 (have tried various older kernels and driver combinations from when this did not happen) Nvidia Drivers 545.29.06, 550.40.07, 550.54.14 ,535.43.09 KDE Plasma RTX3090, 12th gen i7 2560x1440, high settings in game, runs well besides crashes.
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Baggage consistently crashes the NVIDIA driver with Xid109 error on various versions and kernels For in depth + crash dumps see this post
Crash is logged as such:
NVRM: Xid (PCI:0000:01:00): 109, pid=23382, name=cs2, Ch 000000b6, errorString CTX SWITCH TIMEOUT, Info 0x25c05d
While this issue occurs for me and others in other Vulkan applications lately, CS2 is consistently able to trigger the crash via the map Baggage, within minutes of loading. The crash is video freezing, while audio runs in the background still. CS2 must be force killed in order to exit.
I am not certain, but the conveyor belts may be a triggering factor for this.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Launch CS2
- Play Arms Race until Baggage is the map
- Wait..
- Driver/Game Crashes
- Wait ~20 seconds for system to recover before you can alt-tab or switch to virtual terminal to kill the process
Can consistently reproduce. Have only ever made it through one game on Baggage, where I joined near the end. By the time the map switched back it crashed within a minute of play.
While this is somewhat of a shared NVIDIA/CS2 issue, the fact that CS2 is such a consistent trigger for it, and only on the map Baggage in turn, likely sheds light on an issue with both the game and the drivers.
