My main account on linux has this issue but i can play with an alternate account inside of linux.
I'm also having this issue too, but this error only exists on my main account. Switch to an another Steam account won't receive this VAC error.
This is a duplicate of https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux/issues/3408.
The issue will go away on its own after 7 days.
Same here
Working today.
suffering the same problem here on Debian
same on arch
Facing the same issue with Nobara.
Already tried:
- Different Proton Versions
- Switch between Vulkan and OpenGL
- Switch gamescope settings
- Verify Files
- Uninstall CS2 and Steam

Facing this problem in my pc, laptop and Steamdeck since yesterday. On Windows runs fine. PC and laptop run Ubuntu 22.04, one with intel + nvidia, the other one all AMD.

how did you stretch your screen to play 4x3?
Alright, I just fought with this issue for 3 days, check your journal! One of my usb devices was reconnecting every few seconds, that seems to have caused it. EDIT: Spoke too soon, the issue is back.

What about people who are not using gamescope? There is no foundation about this.

While I was diagnosing the alt tab crash I experimented with using gamescope (which did prevent the crash). Reliably if I used gamescope the game would not let me play after a few times. I would then stop using gamescope and be able to play after a few days. I am sure there are other things that can cause this as well but I can say for certain that gamescope will cause this.
Started to happen again. Most up to date archlinux, 3 different PCs and 2 different accounts checked. Looks like checksums for files were not updated correctly for linux in VAC database. rechecking installed files doesn't find anything. Checked with both mainstream steam and steam beta. That's not the first time, but previously it was at least fixed within a day. cs2 updated itself twice already and the issue still persists.

I came here to see, if someone reported this, I am also on arch, and it started happening again. I've verified the files and tried with steam beta and non beta as well.
So... i logged into another account on this PC and it works. While my other accounts don't. What can i say, seems like valve's VAC is a **** that randomly takes people's accounts out of the playing queue for investigation without even notifying them (probably by report level or something). but since my rating is much lower than it had to be (because of amount of cheaters i had to play in the past) for sure i won 10 games in a row. Yeah, Valve?
For anyone else who is having trouble with this, try going into an offline game with bots for a minute or two. That solved it for me after nothing else worked (verifying game files, reinstalling, etc.).
Same issue here. This has been happening reliably to me when playing CS2 since shortly after CS2 was released to the public. After about 15 minutes in any multiplayer match, I get kicked with a VAC communication error. Trying to queue for another match gives the "VAC was unable to verify your game session" error immediately.
Reinstalling Debian, reinstalling CS2 itself, changing video card vendors in case it was a driver it didn't like (ie AMD -> Intel), verifying game files--none of these have made any impact.
The issue can be temporarily resolved by signing out of Steam and back in. Restarting the computer itself isn't necessary. After signing back into Steam, I can play again for another 15 minutes or so before the same thing happens. I really don't know what to try next.
Just happened to me earlier today. The first time I experienced this issue, removing the argument to launch with gamemode fixed it. This time disabling MangoHUD and verifying the files seems to have sorted it out. Kinda weird since MangoHUD is the performance overlay on the SteamDeck.
Experiencing vac problem on Arch Linux with i3wm, using kernel 6.9.6-zen1-1-zen and Nvidia driver 550.90.07. Steps taken include uninstalling mangohud, gamemode, and gamesmoope, testing without launch options, reinstalling the game, and logging out and back in. Issue persists despite these efforts.
anyone got any fixes yet? It seems I will need to dual boot till a fix is out.

Going into an offline game with bots for a few minutes worked for me when I was having this problem. Not sure if my issue was the same as yours but it's worth a shot.

I never had luck with this method. Staying online and playing a bots match doesn't seem to reset the problem. Going proper offline mode and starting a bot match will result in me still getting kicked with an error about not having a steam logon (duh). I have to sign out of and back into Steam or do something that is functionally equivalent such as closing and opening Steam.
