CS2 freezes regularly

Open dusktowardsdawn opened this issue 2 years ago • 8 comments

Your system information

  • System information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) in a gist: https://gist.github.com/Kimchi-Keiki/f286b6f7c49e605cefe49517cf11bc6c
  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

The game freezes during gameplay, requiring it to be terminated via the Task Manager. Running the game with the "-condebug" parameter and checking the console log every time the game freezes always shows repeated lines like these at the end;

11/24 19:08:06 [SteamNetSockets] [#1612903360 SDR server steamid:90178163511436293 vport 0] recv queue overflow 1045839 + 3431 bytes exceeds limit of 1048576.

These lines don't show up in any other parts of the log, and I'm unsure if they are relevant to the freezing.

This is occurring on a clean Windows 11 install.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Launch the game.
  2. Join into a casual match.
  3. Eventually, the game will freeze, and will need to be closed.

Same problem on Windows 10 (no virtualization, real gaming PC), kept happening from time to time, tried a lot of "fixes" but nothing really helped. Now happening basically every time I play after a few seconds or minutes. Reinstalling steam and CS right now, but expect no change, shame on Valve for delivering such a buggy game!

Bump Been having this issue for a long while now, To me it looks like it happens when someone dies? The following repeats 3 times at the end of the console.log after freezing: 01/07 01:05:57 [SteamNetSockets] [#2352989831 SDR server steamid:90179307408501775 vport 0] recv queue overflow 1000 messages already queued. Full log: console.log

To me, when I had the crash, it occured rarely in the beginning and then faster every time it happened again after restarting until it was basically unplayable (crash right after joining a game).

Made me so angry that I uninstalled the game now, thanks for nothing Valve!

Do you have CSTV (tv_enable) enabled by any chance? @tim88435

Were you able to find out the reason or solve the issue? I run a community server and today all players froze and I got the same error messages on console :

My solution was to uninstall this broken game haha 😂

Same problem here on the client side. Valve servers seem to be working fine, but when trying to connect to a faceit server, I get the following error message

[SteamNetSockets] [#1148589084 SDR server steamid:90180610593370142 vport 0 'server'] recv queue overflow 1048469 + 3833 bytes exceeds limit of 1048576.

Edit: For me it seems pretty reasonable, that this happens because of the new update. I played 2 days ago without any problems and just now installed the update. After the update, I couldn't connect to any faceit server so far.
