Public IP configuration problem (Dedicated server) CS2

Open loxorld opened this issue 2 years ago • 18 comments

Since the update to cs2, the -ip command has stopped working in the dedicated servers branch. Currently the server uses the primary IP, without being able to use alternative IPs. In the same way as when setting up a dedicated server on a specific port, the process starts on all the IPs assigned to a machine. 390fb1f179c5b01f3a4b16bdc6dc1a31 This blocks the use of that specific port on the entire computer, leaving the other IPs on that port useless.

I currently have the same problem, I can't get an alternative ip to work (windows)

This isn't a CS2 bug, this is more about how your network is set up. Here is some further reading for Linux/docker - https://github.com/pterodactyl/panel/issues/459

I'm not sure how you would fix this on Windows

Yes this is a bug, alias ips are not working correctly for me to. Always binds to 0.0.0.0 despite giving -ip

Same here

Yes, in addition to not working, it blocks the port on all other ips on a server. That is, if you have a physical server with 10 ips, the port is blocked on all ips.

I'm having this same issue on linux. It's binding the server to 0.0.0.0 for UDP traffic, so even with multiple IP addresses bound to the same server, cannot use 27015 more than once, which defeats the purpose of having multiple IP addresses for game servers. NOTE: I'm not using docker, I'm using LinuxGSM.

It looks like Valve is aware of and will be fixing this in a later release (Valve Time[TM]): https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1d1yxz5/comment/l5xj684/

Any news? I have this problem with Ubuntu 22.04. Maybe any iptables rules?

FletcherDunn 3mo ago Thanks, I don't think that was intentional to change that. I think we should be able to fix this.

Should we wait one year more or two? I don't know what you guys are doing, but I see very small progress for that one year which you released this BETA game.

It hasn't been fixed yet...

Guys, please... take a look at this. It should be an easy fix. It is over a year.

I have secondary IP 37.XXX.XXX.165 and I start server using -ip and +net_public_adr arguments with this IP, but status command outputs this:

udp/ip : 37.XX.XX.165:27015 (public 188.XX.XX.50:27015)

I don't care about ports, but want different IPs for instances. I can't connect via game client:

[NetSteamConn] Opened Steam Net Connection on socket 'client' to 37.XX.XX.165:27015, connection #4174872683 UDP [email protected]:27015 (client log)

But can send UDP message via netcat to server:

[SteamNetSockets] [packet] Ignored bad 89.XX.XX.245:40671. Invalid lead byte 0x74 (gameserver log)

Not sure could server send any response, but netcat from same server and same IP and port able to send messages (when gameserver is off)
