Your system information

  • System information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) in a gist:
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When I run the game my screen stays black but the game is loaded in the background, I can click the button on the ui but the whole screen is black

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Load the game
  2. Wait for ui to load
  3. Black screen instead

Can concur: System Information: Gist Have you checked for updates: Yes.

Almost same symptoms as above, except I cannot even click a button in the UI. Specifically if I run csgo.sh from the terminal I get the following errors:

failed to dlopen /home/fisher/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/bin/engine_client.so error=/home/fisher/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/bin/engine_client.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

AppFramework : Unable to load module engine_client.so!

Unable to load interface VCvarQuery001 from engine_client.so, requested from EXE.

I have adapted instructions at https://redd.it/b08om6 for fedora and this does get the game to at least launch, however it was unplayable; severe frame drops and screen tearing, and my mouse sensitivity setting did nothing.

Following up: Some subsequent update fixed this; however, my install seems to be corrupting or losing one or two files... semi-randomly, and then requires a reboot to fix after verifying files. Haven't tried to diagnose it.

System Info

I'm having a similar issue, however when csgo blackscreens it also locks up the DE (Gnome) and becomes unresponsive. The system is still running though as I'm able to login via a different tty.

After this occures the only way to fix the issue is to validate the game files and every time 1-2 files need to be reaquired. After performing this step CS:GO boots correctly.
