Developer's console prompt and community server browser both displaying a wrong font
Your system information
- System information from steam (
Steam

) in a gist: - Have you checked for system updates?: Yes
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The developer's console prompt and the community server browser display the wrong font, which is missing several characters (including _ . - ?).
Oddly enough, this font is actually Font Awesome 6 which is installed on my system. But why is CS:GO using it and how do I change it?
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Start CS:GO
- Check the developer's console or the community server browser
I have noticed this when I switched over from Xorg to Wayland. Removing the FontAwesome fonts from /usr/share/fonts/OTF fixed the issue for me and now the font is some weird monospace one, but at least it's readable, has special characters and isn't all caps. (don't forget to rebuild the fonts cache with fc-cache
)
@vaxerski Yeah, I know that removing the font fixes the issue, but isn't it clearly a bug that csgo uses Font Awesome instead of its own fonts? I mean the whole thing with removing it in order to make csgo console readable feels hella clunky. But thanks anyway dude.
I've only removed it from that folder, seems to be fine if FA is in a different place or in a TTF
