[OS X] Workbench - texture is only black
Loading VTF-files in workbench is broken on OS X. Textures appear black when loading em in workbench. It has been like this several months, tested on 10.9, and 10.10.

I have the same issue on Arch Linux as well.
PLEASE FIX THIS! There are so many designers out there using OS X / Mac. The workshop community would grow if you made this simple fix.
BUMP, has anyone from valve able to replicate this issue?
Can someone apply the OSX label to this? I've been trying to figure out how to create my own weapon skins, and when I try to load them through the vtf the textures get brought back in all black... can anyone else replicate this issue?
@davidw-valve Can you at least label this as OS X issue?
I have the same issue, and I sent Valve this mail a couple a days ago. No response yet.
Hi Valve,
I can’t find any way at all to get in contact with some sort of support. If I click Support in the Steam app or on Steam’s webpage I get redirected to a site where I’m asked to tell if the product (CS:GO) wasn’t what I expected or if I have technical issues. I have technical issues. I then get thrown into the store, where I’m apparently supposed to brows all community discussions and community guides. I don’t want community discussions or guides; all of them tell me the same thing. Which basically is that you guys suck at support and that this issue isn’t being fixed, even though every single one with the same computer setup as me has this issue and there’s a bunch of tickets open on a bunch of different sites.
So, from all the contacts on Valve’s site, I picked this one. It seemed the least illogical, since it a design thing.
My issue is this: I’m a designer. I design ♥♥♥♥. My partner plays CS:GO, and we watched a bunch of skin gambles and such, and I like to watch him play. I found all the skins very pretty, and he showed me that you can make your own skins. Wow, marvellous! It’s really fun and stimulating, and I spent and entire day making a skin I then wanted him to put in his workbench. But, seeing how much I enjoyed designing the skins, he instead purchased CS:GO for me, simply so I can do the whole process from picking a weapon, to designing it, to actually getting it in-game myself. He sold a really nice skin to pay for my copy of the game. (Lots of boyfriend points, there.) However, I’m on a Mac. Apparently you guys don’t like Macs and OS X. But, you do have this design-your-own-skin-and-put-it-in-the-workbench-thing going on. You do know that a bunch of designers (most, I guess) are on Macs, right? And all of them are upset. All of them want to make pretty skins for your game, and none of them can get their pretty designs into the game, unless they buy Windows and run bootcamp, or parallells. Or buy a new computer. ‘Cause, you see, the skins aren’t loading. When anyone (not just me) on Mac opens the workbench, selects the weapon they want, selects Custom Paint Job and applies their .VTF-file, nothing happens. The texture doesn’t load onto the weapon. It’s still just the default. I can’t find anything about a fix for this, except running the game on Windows.
Personally, since I don’t play this game (yet), this doesn’t really bother me. More than the fact that I find it utterly annoying you make the game just semi-available on Mac and not entirely, the fact that there is no support, and the fact that people have been whining about this for quite some time without receiving any sort of fix. Other than that, it doesn’t bother me. But my partner bought the game for me, simply for me to play with the workbench and skins. And I can’t.
Either fix this, or give him his money back.
Oh, and if you (whomever is at the receiving end of this) can’t help me - please redirect me and this mail to whomever can.
The problem still there, one year later. No fix yet?
I've heard absolutely nothing. Over on Steam Community people have been suggesting some things that they claim should work, though. I haven't checked it.
Up ! Same problem on mac os x. No solution for the moment.
Still broken. Just spent 2 hours making a skin, getting VTFEdit to work in wine and now this. Its really annoying that mac is completely left out of the steam workshop scene.
Vaаааааааааlve? Hello? Maybe fix it? Jan 2015 - Dec 2016 (((
Make us a gift for the new year!!!!

Same issue in Arch Linux
same issue with thinkpad x240 in arch linux
Same thing going on with me, 7 years after the original post. Spent a solid 6 hours figuring it all out only to find out it doesn't work at all.
