[BUG] Error 496 Index HMD

Open ynot01 opened this issue 1 month ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug SteamVR refuses to acknowledge the Index HMD display. Index reports the base stations and itself successfully when starting SteamVR.

Initially, the Index HMD would show up when running cat /sys/class/drm/card1-DP-4/edid | parse-edid

After adding /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-nvidia-hmd.conf, it was treated as a third monitor (I have two monitors, and it started displaying a third screen on the physical Index) and showed up in xrandr as well, but the display was still unrecognized by SteamVR.

After this, running xrandr --output DP-0 --set non-desktop 0 && xrandr --auto and running Direct Mode from SteamVR legacy settings made the display turn off, but did not make SteamVR recognize the display.

Having the DisplayPort unplugged at boot and plugging in before starting Steam did not fix it either.

To Reproduce Open SteamVR

Expected behavior SteamVR should recognize the display and start outputting to it

Same behavior for me with the HTC Vive. Running NVIDIA GPU on Linux Mint 22, and also tested on Steam Deck with the same results. Everything works in Previous Branch option (2.12.14)
