I tried Proton 9 just now, doesn't even open. Does anybody know the fix at all?

Markosha2004 avatar Apr 15 '25 21:04 Markosha2004

Tried official KDE variant instead of gnome. No result

Edit: it appears that official distribution of Nobara is using Wayland. I'll try getting it on x11 somehow

Can't get it to install x11. Funny thing is that I tried launching it on Mint ( see #783 ), it was working without an issue so my guess is that steamvr doesn't yet fully support Wayland.

hey is kwin_wayland_drm: atomic commit failed: Permission denied has to do anything with my problem?

Hi

I am 99% sure that it is possible that the path where the room-setup sh script points to is not correct?

I fixed this once, but I don't remember how. Edit: check that https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/694 https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/574

X11 is theoretically supported but I have a lot of problems. I installed steam with snap, maybe that's it. With waylando it is not supported, here is some more information that might help you:
