severe performance drop when opening the menu in vr.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Open SteamVR
- get in vr
- click the menu button to open the steam menu in vr
- see laggy movement and alot of stuttering/dropped frames.
Expected behavior smooth motion and no lag, just like on windows. also virtual desktops.

Additional context Motion in general is laggy and behind what i'm actually doing in the steamvr loading area. opening the menu amplifies this. motion becomes much more snappy in game but the menu still causes major performance issues. virtual desktops don't work but seem to make it a little worse. frames are stuttery and it doesn't look at all like 144hz. motion smoothing would probably help this. enabling gpu profiling, then restarting and following the prompt fixed some issues. it helped alot with performance opening the vr menu. it also enabled desktops to work. i could switch between them by moving my corsor over and it would automatically switch. my corsor was not at all alligned with where i was pointing. my cursor was far to the left of where i was pointing.
