I can confirm this error on Manjaro as well.

I also have this issue on PopOS (Ubuntu) 20.04. I bought my Vive 3 years ago, and it was still working fine on Windows a few months ago. No hardware failure. SteamVR 1.13.10 Steam Client July 2020 Nvidia Linux-x86_64 440.100

For Ubuntu, I fixed it myself by updating, using "side" PPA: https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers sudo apt upgrade mesa-va-drivers mesa-vdpau-drivers mesa-vulkan-drivers

Also check if DRI3 is enabled in your logs, something like: cat /var/log/Xorg.log | grep DRI3

I also have this problem. Using latest Nvidia drivers.

This is still a problem here on Manjaro. I am not sure how much of a SteamVR problem this is, SteamVR seems to consistently have errors on Manjaro. https://github.com/manjaro/release-plan/issues/216
