Steam Deck: Saved password for "Remember Me" option is incorrect.

  • Steam client version: 1652389013
  • SteamOS version: 3.2
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

After logging into Steam with the "Remember Me" option selected, any attempt to log back in automatically will fail with an "Incorrect Password" error.

This happens 100% of the time on my Deck in both the stable and beta branches. It does appear to be logging in with the wrong password as well because it temporarily disabled logins on my account after changing modes / restarting too frequently when I first set up my device...

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Log in with the "Remember Me" option selected.
  2. Restart the Steam Deck or swap to/from Desktop mode.
  3. Select profile that you previously logged in with and see if an "Incorrect Password" error happens.

I found out it happens if you login your steam in multiple location, you can stop this by login out all devices and log back in.

Can you provide more precise steps to reproduce this? I tried the following but that didn't trigger the problem:

  • Login on Deck, with 'Remember Me' selected.
  • Logoff Steam client on a windows system.
  • Log back in on windows (type password, this is expected after logoff).
  • Restart Steam Client on the Deck
  • Logged back in without prompting for password. CNR
  • Tried a full OS restart also, logged back in without prompting again. CNR

In my case I never logged out of other devices, this happened immediately after setting up my steam deck.

I eventually put my deck into recovery mode and re-imaged it which fixed the issue. Didn't have to de-authorize my other devices in order to log in.

issue still not solved. Because such stupid behavior it force to use extremely simple password for steam to be able to use it.
