Install Issues from zip, no issues when using iso

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Installing from the zip media fails while installing applications (unable to take screenshot, showed no actual info about what the error was though). Selecting the next up (setting up grub) allows the install to finish, it reboots and does the backup, then reboots shows the purple splash screen & goes black. Playing with Alt-F1 - Alt-F7 I'm able to eventually get it to a screen that says "SteamOS is attempting to recover from a fatal error".

I've verified the download hash, re-flashes multiple drives, and reinstalled all multiple times all with the same result.

I eventually found the iso on http://repo.steampowered.com/download/. Flashing & installing from that it worked without error the first time. So, I don't need debugging help, just thought ya'll should know there might be some difference between the two install media options.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Install from zip install
2. Reboot
3. See black screen
