Kodi Flatpak Beta: Piers 22 Alpha 1
Piers 22 Alpha 1 has native HDR support on the Flatpak version of Kodi. It works on my non SteamOS; Nobara 42 pc with HDR. However, no matter how I configure it on my Steam Deck in SteamOS it cannot detect any HDR capabilities.
What I believe it is missing is the ability to set flatpak non steam apps in steamOS as wayland inside gamescope such as GAMESCOPE_WAYLAND_DISPLAY. I haven't been able to use this myself since I cannot configure launch options in a way that won't cause it to crash.
Preferably the ability to, inside gamemode, configure any app with extra gamescope flags. Such as hdr-enabled, option between Wayland or Xwayland internal display, and HDR support for non proton wayland applications such as flatpaks.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Install the Flatpak Beta version of Kodi
- Add to steam and Launch it from steam in gamemode
- Open Kodi system info settings
It will then display under "video" that it is x11 and has no HDR capabilities. Forcing it to run Wayland only causes it to not open inside gamemode, while desktop mode shows "no hdr capabilities" even though it opens.
+1 to this issue.
Flatpak RetroArch/Retrodeck does not have the HDR toggle; but Steam Store RetroArch/Emudeck does.
+1, I really want to be able to pay HDR videos on Stremio with SteamOS.
