[Setting] Steam OS 3.8 on ROG Ally - Brightness and audio setting reset everytime I enter desktop mode

Open vidar2727 opened this issue 6 months ago • 2 comments

Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 20250619
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Steam OS 3.8 Steam Deck stable - main branch
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [No]
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes]
  • GPU: Nvidia/Intel/AMD: Z1 Extreme - ROG Ally

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Entering desktop mode will reset the brightness setting to 40% not matter what adjustment I made to the system in desktop mode.

Speaker's volume in desktop mode is lower than usual even with volume pushed to max. The default setting for audio in desktop mode is Family 17h/19h/1ah HD audio controller pro set to Pro controller.

In order to make the speaker's level to normal, I need to change 'Family 17h/19h/1ah HD Audio Controller Pro' from 'Pro Audio' to 'Analog stereo duplex' (which will increase the volume a bit, but not to normal level), and then change back to 'Pro Audio'. I need to repeat this step every time I enter desktop mode to make audio's level return to normal

Thanks

Pro audio should never be required as it is meant for special setups.

Stay on analog, but try this, open your konsole, type in alsamixer and check whether it is set at 100 or another number.

The command I run show It is set at 100
