On Wake, Legion Go has constant 'ghost inputs'

Open Paetrig opened this issue 7 months ago • 8 comments

Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1750208077
  • SteamOS version: 3.7.9
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Hardware

Legion Go handheld (512GB) with Z1 Extreme

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

On occasion when I wake the Go, I experience constant 'ghost-inputs' where selections are made without input from the user.

If a mouse cursor is present, it jumps around the screen constantly, leading me to believe it's tied to the touchscreen.

This has happened intermittently but is persistent, for example, once every 5 Sleep/Wake cycles or in back-to-back Sleep/Wake cycles.

What did you expect to happen?

Go can perform Sleep/Wake cycles as the result of normal daily use without the unit 'ghost-inputting' at all.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Press the Power button once to put the unit to Sleep.
  2. Press the Power button once to Wake the unit
  3. Repeat until 'ghost input' issue presents.

Workaround

  1. Restart the unit (though this is not a permanent fix).

Troubleshooting already attempted

  1. Restarted unit, issue persists.
  2. Verified SteamOS is up-to-date, issue persists.
  3. Completed any and all System Updates pending in Desktop Mode, issue persists.

When you are waking the device, are you using any input immediately after resuming? or do the ghost inputs appear even if you do not use any touchscreen or controller.

Hi Matte, I’m only touching the Power button. I’ve been very deliberate in my testing to not touch the screen or any buttons when I Wake the device from Sleep

So far on SteamOS 3.7.9 my Legion Go only has a single ghost input after waking the device, which seems to be joystick up. Have not run into constant input yet. Next time it happens to you, can you grab a system report via Settings -> System -> Advanced -> System Report -> Create Report? It'll include logs from your current boot and your previous boot, so even if you generate the report after rebooting it should be fine.

Will do, thanks! Just an FYI to add, this issue also occurred in Bazzite when I had that installed. I opened a bug report with them too

I think I also have these "ghost inputs". For me it just happens when i use the touchscreen (and i think also the touchpads). I had it before and it went away after a accidental reset. But now it came back. Have a video of it, hosted on discord because of file sizes. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/820705298607898634/1397420902391484529/untitled.mp4?ex=6881a921&is=688057a1&hm=d19fbad2e36f71fb82abc14e8098c382ab182f39d4a5b22d11aca8489a269fac&

I think there are some spots on the screen that are more reliable to reproduce the bug than others. For example putting the keyboard at the top of the screen and then just moving your finger around near the backspace ] and \ is pretty reliable to reproduce it for me. And it only happens in game mode btw

This is still happening but I keep forgetting to grab the system report. I will do so when it occurs again

Hi Matte, sorry it's been so long. I've been experiencing it intermittently for the the past few months but lately it's been happening almost every single time I wake my Go from Sleep.

I've tried uploading Steam Reports but they each fail with the message "Failed. We failed to upload your System Report, please try again or contact Steam Support".

I will continue to attempt to upload the System Report and will update here if successful
