Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Following the SteamOS update to 3.7.8 on my Steamdeck Oled, God of War Ragnarok's audio goes out after few seconds after starting the game. This remains true whether or not I have wired headphones, using the speakers, or using bluetooth. I have not modified the proton version at all. This occurs whether I'm in desktop mode or game mode. It doesn't seem to be impacting other games that I'm aware of, but going back to a previous version of steamos does indeed resolve the issue.

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen.

I'm expecting the sound to play normally, but instead it stutters every few seconds, with no other performance issues being observed with the game or OS. I can only see issues with the audio.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start God of War Ragnarok
  2. Start the game
  3. Wait a minute (for me it's a few seconds), and the audio should start going in and out every couple of seconds.

Seems to happen on most games for me if it's even remotely intensive. This is happening even MORE on my HTPC (MinisForum UM760 Slim) which is also running the latest SteamOS Stable.

This is also happening to me since the update to 3.7.8 on my steam deck docked. Playing handheld there is no issue.

Figured out issue is to do with sleep mode, see my latest comment on #1974

My issue is less about crackling and more about the audio just flatout going silent every couple of seconds without end.

So, just as a sanity check, did you try restarting as I suggested?

Yes. My issue is persistent and happens regardless of whether I enter sleep mode and it is particularly game specific. It always happens with god of war ragnarok currently and the only way to fix it is to go back to the previous version of steamos.
