Btop, the Resource monitor application, is missing from the Application Menu after updating SteamOS to 3.7.8
Your system information

- SteamOS version: SteamOS 3.7.8 build:20250522.2
- Opted into Steam client beta?: No
- Opted into SteamOS beta?: No

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The application was present in the Applications Menu, but after the update of SteamOS 3.7.8 it's gone.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Compare the Menu from the previous release with the current one.
You are right, a couple of terminal only apps are hidden from the menu, as there's a lot that don't make sense for an end user.
To bring it back:
ln -s /usr/share/applications/btop.desktop .local/share/applications/
Yes, as David said this was hidden recently (so, for 3.7) to keep consistency with other similar apps that were already hidden in the menus before.
To bring it back:
ln -s /usr/share/applications/btop.desktop .local/share/applications/
You probably know that, but just in case and if more people stumble upon this:
Executing the command above is a one-time thing and will survive upgrades -- as long as the package continues to be shipped in the base system (there are no plans to drop it) and it doesn't change names, etc. So should work for a long time/"forever".
