The brightness values are scaled differently between Game Mode and Desktop Mode

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Game mode works fine
- Entering desktop mode, the brightness is set to a higher value, like 10 times
- In game mode "cat /sys/class/backlight/*/brightness" returns 2006 but in desktop mode it's 21667.
Do you have an LCD or OLED display?
It is known and expected that the sysfs backlight control in gamescope does not reflect the true value used by gamescope. For that reason KDE will always reset to a mid-level brightness on login. Can you confirm that's what you're seeing.

OLED, but this didn't happen in 3.6.24, the brightness stayed consistent or last customized value. Unfortunately I reinstalled with the recovery image because of the low volume + crackling issue, and now I don't have 3.6.24 to test the values.
Also I don't think it's resetting, more like being magnified. The brightness adjustments made in Game Mode are saved and will directly affect the brightness when you switch to Desktop Mode. However, brightness changes made in Desktop Mode are not saved and do not impact the brightness in Game Mode.
Since 3.7.8 update desktop mode defaults to 35% brightness, and completly ignores the settings inside the powermanagementprofilesrc file. This did not happen on the previous version
A workaround you could add is to put this in your login env file. Change displayport to whatever you are using. xrandr by itself to see the list.
xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --brightness 1.0

There's a little misunderstanding here, I was talking about the screen backlight brightness, xrandr changes the screen brightness
