Select device for SteamOS install when multiple storage devices are present

Your system information

  • Steam client version:
  • SteamOS version: repair-image-3.7.7
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: no
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: no
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I am unable to select a particular device or partition when installing steamOS. I'm using a computer with several SSDs for storage and a smaller one for a boot drive. When attempting to reinstall from a recovery usb it defaulted to the primary Nvme and deleted a steam library in the process...

If applicable (ie more than one storage device detected) it should scan for available devices and prompt the user to pick which they'd like to install the OS on.

I know non-handheld hardware isn't fully supported yet but I was just checking to see if it'd work now and wasn't expecting to wipe my drive. :/

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Boot from recovery image
  2. Pick erase and restore, thinking I'll be asked to pick a drive
  3. Wrong drive is selected and erased. :(

I tried to modify the install script to point to /sdb but the script hangs/fails when doing so.
