Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible: I currently have no power at my house due to a storm. When I tried booting my steam deck, it gets stuck on a screen saying that it’s checking for updates. I cannot exit the screen or use any buttons. Nothing I do will let me continue if I don’t have Internet.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Lose power at your house.
- Have a problem with the OS requiring a reboot.
- Reboot your steam deck.
- Be sad that you can’t play games simply because you don’t have Wi-Fi.
Seriously this is insane. This should have not been an issue to start with. People are complaining about this since last year. I got the same issue when traveling since it could not find my wifi.

A new version has been released to stable, 3.7.8; I guess that you were using 3.6 unless you had upgraded to betas.
I tried this just now after switching off my router (the only connection configured) and the boot-up process shows for like 1 second "Waiting for network", but it continues and I can then launch a local game installed previously.
@JoeGearhart and @shebet : did you have the chance of test the latest stable (3.7.8, or beta .9) and did it solve the issue for you? Feedback appreciated, thanks.
