Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1731990050
  • SteamOS version: 3.6.20
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: No
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I just installed SteamOS onto my home theater pc and for the most part it works perfect, except I can't access desktop mode. I click on Menu, Power, then Switch to Desktop mode, then I lose signal to my tv. My pc remains powered on but I have to unplug and plug it back in to get it working again. Boots into gaming mode without issue. This is a fresh install, no add ons or 3rd party software has been installed, and no settings have been changed.

My specs are as followed-

HP Prodesk 600 G4- (secure boot disabled) i7-8700 16GB DDR4 AMD RX 6400

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Simply trying to access desktop mode freezes machine.

Whoah, good to hear that I'm not the only one did that kind of shenanigans...

I have the same problem, but instead of desktop mode (it runs normal, switching back and forth no problem), I get the same outcome when going into sleep mode.

Same as your thing, black screen, but PC is still wake and active, just nothing displayed, pressing the power does nothing, only reset helps, and then I get into fresh booted state, not the sleep wakeup (

guess we need a little more time for valve to push out a working build for PC.

@CoderMonkey1956 Nope, it was a clean install without any additional software. to stay as true to the original as possible.
