Steam Link causes Steam Deck to reboot

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Upon connecting to the Steam Deck from a Windows based pc the Steam Deck will reboot. While in game mode this happens immediately, when in desktop mode it seems to work and not reboot. This used to work flawlessly in the past but not anymore regardless of mode the user is in.

This particular crash was so bad that I was stuck in the 'verifying intallation' loop and was required to factory restore the Steam Deck as a last resort.

The Steam Link software should never mangle the Steam Deck like this!

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Run Steam Link executable from a Windows based pc
2. Link the Steam Link program with the Steam Deck
3. Watch it reboot upon connect

I would like to add on to this, it's happening to me too. the Steam Deck isn't "rebooting", the Steam Client is crashing and in Steam Deck Game Mode, that might as well be a reboot, if you think about it. In Desktop Mode, you can watch as the client crashes and restarts. And thanks to that, I grabbed a stack trace!

Unfortunately all I have is a screenshot of a crash that happened just like this, but this is the stack trace I got from the Steam Deck.

I don't think it matters if it's Steam Link, or Steam client itself - All streaming from Steam Deck to another device is going to either: crash immediately, show black screen and audio only, or audio and spinning disk in the bottom right hand corner -- eventully going to crash if I let it sit there long enough. Glad To know it's not just me.

I have, after many many times, gotten to play about 10 minutes of TF2 streaming from Steam Deck running in Desktop mode to my Mac before the Steam Client crashes and reboots

Happens to me as well and many others. Annoys me to no end. I am considering selling my Deck.

I just found a Solution;

close Steam Client on Windows open Steam Link connect

They seem to have "fixed" something, Steam Link on Android does work with the Deck now, however when I connect through the PC Client the stream crashes but the Deck doesn't.
