Helldivers2 starting with a black screen on SteamOS 3.6

After updating to SteamOS 3.6 (Beta) Helldivers2 starts sometimes (more than 50% of the time) with a black screen while the audio works.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Start HD2
2. Wait until you hear the sound of the intro.
3. Screen is black.
4. Push the power button to suspend.
5. Wait 5 seconds.
6. Push the power button to resume.
7. Screen shows game as it should.

I'm having this issue today with Half-Life 2. The game starts with a black screen (with audio playing) 100% of the time on the latest Beta build of Steam OS 3.6. Suspending and resuming restores the screen. The issue does not exist on Stable.
