[TF2] Import spray UI does not scale

Open lucamicino opened this issue 8 months ago • 5 comments

I am playing on a resolution of 2560x1600.

Screenshot 1: File explorer that pops up for changing spray, choosing decals, etc. is tiny and hard to read and navigate on higher resolutions. Image

Screenshot 2: Any map related errors, warnings, etc. which show up near the top right of the screen are in tiny text, should also be increased in size for higher resolutions. Image

Screenshot 3: Making certain video setting changes while in a server (such as changing HDR) will bring up a confirmation dialog, but it is also tiny on higher resolutions. Image

Screenshot 4: Weird graphic bug when clicking and holding on a class before modifying loadout highlights them in a red square - dunno whether or not this is intentional, but thought I'd report it anyway. Image

Screenshot 5: All weapons that have a skin applied to them, their backpack preview images are not stretched out on resolutions of a 16:10 aspect ratio and a black bar is left (sometimes instead of a black bar it is just a cropped part of the preview image) but regular weapon backpack preview images that are not skins do not have this issue and appear fine. Image

Screenshot 6: Hovering the mouse over certain options brings up a dialog that explains what it does, but it hasn't been accounted for higher resolutions and shows up in tiny text. Image

Screenshot 7: cl_showfps (top right) and net_graph (bottom right) also have some tiny text that does not get scaled up for higher resolutions. Image

There might still be more elements that I have not yet caught, but these are the ones I've noticed so far, and hopefully they get rectified in a future patch.

Hello @lucamicino, in general, multi-issue issue reports are bad for any issue tracker. For tracking purposes, only your first issue will be tracked here.

New finds...

Screenshot 8: The adjust brightness levels pop up window found in Options > Video > Adjust brightness levels... also does not scale up with higher resolutions.

Image

Screenshot 9: The 3rd party technology credits pop up window found in Options > Audio > 3rd party technology credits has small text that does not increase in size for higher resolutions.

Screenshot 10: The 3rd party technology credits pop up window found in Options > Video > 3rd party technology credits has small text that does not increase in size for higher resolutions.

Note: Most of the issues you posted aren't a bug. In sourcescheme.res (file that defines the fonts) there are two main types of UI fonts, Default and DefaultSmall. The issues you say, that it doesn't scale or is too small, there it just uses defaultsmall, and it does scale. (type vgui_ui_scale_factor 2 in console, now check it again)

Eg. The tooltips, and 3rd party credits dialog.

The font size will probably never be updated, because on lower sized screens, by default, those paragraphs won't fit.

Eg. HL2DM:
