[TF2] [Feature Request] Add additional "Cannot be deleted" and "Cannot be used in crafting" restrictions for achievement items

Open KimmyTF2 opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Achievement items are one-of-a kind items for every player that unlocked them. Once they are deleted or used in crafting, they are gone forever. Many new players that often don't have enough space in their backpacks delete them, only to regret it years later. As Steam Support is rarely restoring deleted items and never items used in crafting, this should prevent countless posts on forums asking how to get already deleted/used in crafting achievement items.

Edit: This suggestion can be applied only if something similar to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/6458 is implemented or F2P players finally have more slots in their backpacks. 50 slots is nothing. So many weapons and cosmetics were added since 2011. 50 slots is not even enough to own every non-reskin weapon in the game.

Here's how it could look: The Necro Smasher

I don't think it's a good idea to make them take up backpack space AND make them undeletable.

I forgot to mention this https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/6458 Weapons are stored in a separate "backpack" and cosmetics/action items are stored in normal backpack.

That would make sense, yeah, whoever submitted #6458 is a genius :^)

"Cannot be deleted" should probably be added to more items than just unlocked via achievements. They are either valuable or one of a kind per account.

Another potential change could be to whitelist achievement items in a way where they don’t count towards backpack space

That's what #6458 is
