[L4D2] Mods appear to hit memory limit unreasonably quickly
I'm coming back to the game after a year or something and trying to play some modded campaigns. I cannot for the life of me get these campaigns to play stable, despite using nothing but compressed weapon, survivors, and reskin mods adding up to ~700 MB. Compressed and repackaged them myself, and unsubscribed from every other mod to be sure, no luck. I can't even get some vanilla campaigns to start, No Mercy has broken intro audio and The Passing crashes entirely. When I played last year, though it was with a different set of mods, I definitely never had to fight the memory limit as hard as I have now. I didn't even have to think about file sizes, but now I'm scrutinizing everything I'm installing and realizing that it doesn't matter anyway. It feels a lot like something has been seriously broken with the game that is making the 32-bit limitations feel stricter than ever. Is anyone else hitting limits easier now? Would this be potentially something with my own computer? Because I'm definitely on very different hardware now than a year ago.
Here's a collection of the mods I tested with, in the off chance that any one happens to somehow be responsible for the issue. I don't think this is the case as I tried eliminating mods bit by bit and it didn't seem to matter what was running or not, simply how many mods, but better safe than sorry.
