[TF2] Func_Door sound issues (hidden defaults, ignoring options specified in Hammer)
I just noticed a few weird things with door sounds while working on testing a new TF2 map.
- Even when I do not specify any sounds for a door (func_door) in Hammer, in-game while testing the map some sort of default movement sounds moves - but only when the door is sliding open, but not while sliding closed.
- When I do specify open sound (noise1 in the FGD) AND close sound (startclosesound in the FGD), the close sound still does not play in-game.
- Similar weirdness with the "stop" sounds. Some hidden default plays for the default close stop sound (startclosesound in the FGD), but not for the default door open stop sound (noise2 in the FGD).
Not sure if this is:
- An FGD problem? (I am using the default - whatever comes with a new TF2 install).
- A compile problem?
- A run-time problem?
I did some research into this recently and found the entity is coded to emit specific gamesound sounds by default, unless they're overridden by properties.
There are a couple of other nasty bugs with door sounds which I never bothered to report as I did not expect they would be fixed. Details are in there.
