Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Rigid Force Alpha
  • Steam AppID of the game: 724390

System Information

  • Steam Deck (LCD)
  • Kernel version: Kernel version: 6.11.11
  • Proton version: 1761241153 experimental-10.0-20251023

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

2 regressions.

Regression #1:

  • Proton: 1761241153 experimental-10.0-20251023: all the speech samples are completely missing, only music and effects can be heard
  • Proton: 1757428112 proton-10.0-2e to 1731348819 proton-7.0-6f: all the speech samples are played not upto the very end (the last 0.3s-0.7s are always cut, depends on the proton version. For example, proton-10.0-2e cuts the words "military operations are underway" to "military operations are under" and "entering combat mode" to "entering combat", while proton-7.0-6f cuts them to "military operat" and "enter")
  • Proton: 1655928814 proton-6.3-8g: all the speech samples are played properly

Regression #2:

  • Proton: 1761241153 experimental-10.0-20251023 to 1731348819 proton-7.0-6f: regardless of whether Steam Input is enabled or not, the ingame cursor control is broken, if you point at something in menu and press "A" - the cursor jumps top-right and the menu press doesn't get registered (touch screen controls work fine)
  • Proton: 1655928814 proton-6.3-8g: ingame cursor control works properly

Note: 1757428112 proton-10.0-2e to 1731348819 proton-7.0-6f means the ones available in the official SteamOS right now, it doesn't mean I've checked all the minor builds between them.

Proton: 1762451175 experimental-10.0-20251106b - regression #1 is back to the "all the speech samples are played not upto the very end" state (but not completely muted like it was in 1761241153 experimental-10.0-20251023).

Proton: 1765195901 experimental-10.0-20251208 - regression 1 seems to be fixed, no audible sample cuts (fingers crossed for no further regressions on this).
