Reproduction
- Launch game
- Click okay on above error
- Crashes during Shader Compilation
Just to add something, I get this same error on my arch linux machine with an RTX 5080 but the game works great on my fedora machine with an AMD RX 9070XT. So it seems to be an nvidia issue right now.
Apparently Proton-GE 8-25 works, but performance is extremely low for me. 15fps on a 5090 and cannot select DLSS/Frame gen.
The game does have a linux native client, only way to play right now.
if you use proton and add VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_ray_tracing_pipeline,VK_KHR_acceleration_structure as launch options in steam then the game works with DLSS, Frame Gen, HDR. The downside is that hardware accelerated ray tracing doesnt work and it falls back to software lumen. However, it seems hardware lumen is extremely heavy on the GPU anyways so software lumen might be preferred

Thank you for this, it absolutely worked. With frame gen on it's a way better experience than native. How did you figure the correct launch options?
someone on protondb had the right extensions to disable and i tried it and it worked.
Thanks for the reports everyone. I have created NVIDIA bug 5507991 to track the compiler assert issue. I will try to get a fix out as soon as possible.
I can report the "same" issue on RTX Pro 6000. vk_pipeline creation fail on the windows-proton runtime the native linux build is functional but doesn't have any of the features. I'm on 580.82.07 with kernel 6.16.3-76061603-generic PopOS 22.04
I can ignore the error until the Shader Compilation Screen completes- after that it won't proceed. Thank you for looking into this.
Edit: I've tested the above environment settings, they make it work - but something is not right. In the location I tested I got around 80FPS FG off, around 120FPS with FG on and only around 145 FPS with MFG. Also GPU utilization drops to around 70 - 75% when FG or MFG is on.
