Symptoms
Throughout the game, it tries to mess with the player by taking non steam screenshots and saving them in what would be the document folder. Under proton however, it fails to save anything in the games compatdata folder. The game also suffers from stutters and freezes, which can last from a few seconds to the point where you have to restart the game itself.
Reproduction
Set proton version, play through the game until you see what looks to be a filepath in the top left of the screen and the steam screenshot sound to play. then check the compatdata folder for that filepath at /home/LINUXUSER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3658110/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/ and notice there is no screenshots or anything of the sort.
Hello @Dal1ster, [...]/steamapps/compatdata/3658110 isn't a sane appid in this context. That should be the appid of Proton itself and not the game's wineprefix. Also, 3659070 is the game's demo, which is fine by itself, but note that you've made it ambiguous if you tested the full game or the demo. I'm forced to assume it's the latter.
Please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.)
Apologies about the ambiguity, i just tried to follow what the guide suggested, and fill in the title and such with what the template recommends (since the games demo is the Vegetable patch, the main game is just giggleland full stop, but calling it the demo would cause confusion). Also odd that i didnt upload the proton log.... Heres the log then. Also i was just trying to follow my hunch of it saving its own screenshots in the compatdata folder for itself since thats what happens with most proton games I've tested.
