Hello @nlighteneddesign, from your Proton log, fixme:input:raw_controller_2_get_DisplayName iface 14F07EB4, value 00869AA0 stub! followed by an access violation (c0000005) in SDL 2 hints towards a controller related snafu of some kind. Can you check if you have any controllers attached and if removing them has an effect? If it does, please note what controller was involved.

Thank you for the rapid reply! I do not have a controller attached

In fact the only two usb devices I have are an audio mixer and my camera.

I just tried rebooting my computer too and that did not help.

I also tried removing the audio mixer and that did not work.

And I opened Properties > Controller and chose Disable Steam Input

Neither worked.

I was able to run this on my laptop, my desktop still has this issue.

Is there anything else I can try?

Is there anything else we can do here?

nlighteneddesign avatar Jun 10 '25 15:06 nlighteneddesign

I switched from SNAP to .deb and the issue persists.

I've also installed the most recent version of mesa using: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Requirements

Which did not work either.

@nlighteneddesign could you provide some more data? A new log with proton experimental, the output of env, and then trying to load the game with as fewer peripherals connected as possible, perhaps only the mouse.

For the env information you can open the terminal and run env > env.txt which should create env.txt in your home folder.

Here is the new log: https://gist.github.com/nlighteneddesign/63630de67d3f585aa0e9ebbf18cc9370 Here is the env: https://gist.github.com/nlighteneddesign/fb39c1408416ed413b1e1cefd036c75c

I redacted the machine name and local user name, but everything else looked fine.

Anything else I can provide?
