Mouse Acceleration
A user on reddit posted about certain values in the windows regedit in wine, when turning them off causes the game to feel more responsive in games that may use software cursor instead of hardware and these values have to do with mouse acceleration, some users are saying this doesnt affect wine/proton but i would like to hear from someone if this is true, as in my testing in the finals setting these values to 0 causes the game to feel better and doing 360s makes me hit the same spot easier with these values but this could be my imagination/placebo affect
If this is the case and it does affect the mouse could these be turned off so users dont have to manually go into the prefix and turn it off? As in a competitive fps it's important to have no mouse acceleration so you can be as accurate as possible, or atleast have a easier option to turn it off like if the user has selected this to be off on the desktop environment wine can detect and apply it automatically for the user
Are these related to Windows Pointer Speed? When I ran windows, mine was set to 4/11. I used to use https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/ to convert mouse sensitivity between games. Some games are affected by WPS. Which in turn affects the calculation for the conversion.
If these values are still present in Wine/Proton and affect in-game sensitivity and not completely bypass it, then for competitive gaming, this is a big issue.

yes that is why im asking why this is enabled still in especially competitive games, some games use software cursor and that brings the mouse acell from windows in wine to take affect im pretty sure, i feel like they should change this for competitive games only as thats what is most important in those type of games, aim.
If you're interested, I've just built Wine TkG with the newly released GE-Wayland patches, which includes unaccelerated mouse input for winewayland.drv and I can confirm the sensitivity is wildly different. I've already been building with winewayland.drv and using it to run games natively on Wayland, but now the mouse speed and sensitivity is different from before.

You should try it. It's very different from before. Can also try it with Proton TkG or just download the latest GE-Proton release and make sure to run the game natively on Wayland with PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1.

I actually got so used to the mouse acceleration that when I enable the wayland driver in wine under ge-proton for something like the finals I started overshooting so much 💀
I don't necessarily think Wine Staging with the Wayland driver has acceleration, but the conversion or some other obscure thing is broken.
Cause when I built with these new GE-Wayland patches, the sensitivity is truly different. For all I know, the patch might be broken too and is wrong.
Something is up. I play old CoD games very competitively, coming from Windows, and this issue needs more eyes on it. It's a big issue. Something weird is going on.
Upstream wine has mouse acceleration under wayland with wayland driver. The problem I have is the lack of "raw" mouse input, one that isn't affected by mouse sensitivity of desktop environment. Things work just wine under xwayland with wine using x11 driver.
