Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Keyboard input unresponsive in-game, not sure when this started to happen but a few months ago I was able to play Xenoverse 2 and Sonic Origins normally; then I decide to went checking these games again and on Xenoverse 2 I can't control character in-game and I have the same issue on Sonic Origins where I can't press any buttons to get past the Auto-Save/Auto-Load screen.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Try playing Sonic Origins
- Xenoverse 2 after either 'character creation' or 'character load'; in lobby, I'm unable to move character around.
- I've tried using several proton versions, including old ones and the newest ones; nothing seemed to solve the problem.
I experienced the same with the Proton Hotfix version in several games. Keyboard strokes are unrecognized also when alt tabbing into another application. Setting Proton 9.0.4 fixes the issue.
Obsereved in games: Atomic Heart, WH 40k Battlesector
@VashSan hotfix is meant for specific games, and when it's needed it's pinned steam side. Setting it manually for games is never expected to help them, as 99% of the time hotfix is basically an old build of proton experimental.
If you still see the issue on experimental, then things like what desktop environment you use would be helpful, as it might be a combination of factors.
After tinkering with several settings, I finally could identify my keyboard being the problem. A cheap keyboard works. Some combination between this keyboard/driver/proton 10x which seems to cause the issue for me. Maybe other affected players may want to check whether they can reproduce/solve the issue by connecting another keyboard.
