Symptoms

Intro videos/splashes cannot be skipped by keypress unless you alt tab out of the game and back in. Works fine with WINED3D. See dxvk issue

Sounds are broken and scratchy/weird sounding. See also report from Platinum version From the proton log it looks like it's trying to load the 64bit version of the gstreamer files when it's supposed to load the 32 bit version i think. Same issue as Progressbar95

Reproduction

For the intro bug just launch the game and try to skip intro with a keyboard press. You will be unable to unless you alt tab out and in and then again press a key.

For the sound issue just launch into main menu and you will hear background music is all broken.

i also get the weird sounds. It is like the music is playing through a tin can or something like that. I had to use wine with the gstreamer lib32 libav stuff to get rid of the horrible audio bug

The weird sounds seem to be gone in the new experimental build (also bleeding edge) and it doesn't complain about wrong bit versions of files anymore. But now the music (and maybe some other sounds) doesn't play at all. Tho button click sounds seem to work fine.

This is probably the interesting part of the log.

err:quartz:autoplug Failed to create filter for L"GStreamer splitter filter", hr 0x8007000e.

The game plays the music on Experimental again (?) for me now. But it still sounds weird.

Symptoms

Main menu music is garbled / missing. The game opens a second window "ActiveMovie Window." (only 9.0-4 / 10.0-3) Ingame background track (when zooming out) is also missing / garbled.

Reproduction

  1. Switch to Desktop Mode, attaching Keyboard / Mouse recommended
  2. Launch game, wait for it to load to the main menu
  3. Observe mangled audio and extra window
  4. Load into game, any gamemode
  5. Zoom all the way out
  6. Observe mangled audio

@CarbonNotes commented on 2025-12-02T06:14:13:

I've observed similar behaviors with audio issues on my desktop (9900X / RX 6700XT, Debian Testing). I can include logs from there if that seems like it would be useful, but since this issue can be trivially reproduced on a Steam Deck w/ SteamOS, that seems like it would be a better place to aim for correct functionality first as it limits hardware / software configuration problems which could be on my end.
