Symptoms
Like all other EA-published titles I've tried since the inclusion of their former Origin-exclusives, this game seems to install correctly, but after the Origin thin client displays, it throws the error message about being unable to install the game in the specified folder, followed by another error window stating "We are unable to connect to EA servers to activate Dead Space 3 on this computer using your account. Please try again later." Clicking the "Exit" button on the window causes the game to exit.
Reproduction
This happens each time the game is installed and executed from Steam.
Since my initial report, I've tried resolving some issues within the steam-1238060.log by installing several qt5-related packages, as well as the winbind package from the Debian repository. None of this has worked, but here is an updated steam-1238060.log file - perhaps this will shed some new light on the issue.
Check the comment on ProtonDB and try this :
sudo chmod -R 555 ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238000/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application\ Data/Origin
Hey @Odelpasso, thank you for reaching out. I tried what you suggested, but unfortunately it didn't work. I'm still greeted with the same error window as before, shown below:

This is the same error window I get when trying to launch other EA/Origin games as well, including Titanfall 2.
The following line from my steam-1238060.log file seems telling:
5417.663:0100:0104:warn:seh:OutputDebugStringA "QObject::connect: Cannot connect (null)::userConnectionStateChanged(bool, Origin::Services::Session::SessionRef) to Origin::Services::HttpServiceResponse::onConnectionStateChanged(bool, Origin::Services::Session::SessionRef)\n"
I'm not sure how to properly read the stack traces from these logs, but it looks like Origin is being refused a connection to EA's servers. This line is found several times throughout the log. I'm not sure what to do with it though.
launch with proton 7.0-6 but not with Experimental, 8.0-2 or GE-8.3=>EA app crash and game go on "not run" state
Game does not seem to work currently. Tried several proton versions (removing the prefix between attempts) and the result is always the same: the EA App briefly calls the game and it crashes.
Here is the log of an attempt using Proton 10.0-3:
