Symptoms

The game freezes repeatedly in an interval. Trying various Proton settings didn't change anything.

Is a 32bit game? I ask because is not available anymore on steam.

It has long been delisted as it is customary for that kind of games. The publishers/game developers do their best to force us to buy new releases every year. :)

Tested this game and it runs at 1FPS. Tried all versions of proton down to 4.11. Putting a log here in hopes of this being beneficial to any other niche games like this.

Just a heads up that this seems to be the same bug that happens on windows. Adding 127.0.0.1 nba2k14.pc.2ksports.com ns.take2games.com to the /etc/hosts file fixed framerate and game now works perfectly fine on Proton 7.0-1

Just a heads up that this seems to be the same bug that happens on windows. Adding 127.0.0.1 nba2k14.pc.2ksports.com ns.take2games.com to the /etc/hosts file fixed framerate and game now works perfectly fine on Proton 7.0-1

Worked perfect for the FPS, thank you. I am having issues with sound now unfortunately. Been looking for a long time on this and can't find a solid fix. I am getting sound effects but no music or commentary. Very strange. Not sure how to fix this at all

Just wanted to pop by and say this FINALLY solved my headache with getting this stupid game to work! Seriously, GOogle had been no help whatsoever until now. Thanks again!

Seems like this game have some problems with FAudio because on XAudio it works correctly. Check if this will fix sounds for you (change path/appid if you run disk version): WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/255480/pfx/ winetricks xact
