Symptoms

Game closes itself immediately after starting into a little black square

Reproduction

  1. Click on Play
  2. Black square appears
  3. Black square disappears

NOTE: There are a fairly amount of games working fine in this system (less than in my other system with MX Linux but still). All my current tests in SteamOS.

Same here, it just closes after launch, a pitty a good game for multiplayer play with windows users.

  • GPU: RX VEGA 56
  • Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 19.0.1 - padoka PPA/8.0.0
  • Kernel version: 5.0.13-050013-lowlatency
  • Distro version: Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa (64 bit) (Cinnamon Desktop)
  • Proton version: 4.2-5
  • System information: system_info.txt

I can confirm the game does not work with Proton. Trying to lauch the game a black window opens up and then closes. (I did not find any videos amongst the game's files, only media files were .bmp pictures and .wav audio files)

Well, it now seems to work over Proton 5.13-6 but it presents the same "black box" issue it does on Win10, resolved this way as they say in the community.

Can we reproduce that change over Proton? I tried everything I could through winecfg on the game's prefix but it was useless

woking with proton 6.3.6 with the black box issue that seems is also an issue for windows 10 users, there is a blackbox in the middle of the game. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1409#issuecomment-784838269 dont know how ti fix it under wine.

Has anyone solved this? I am still getting this on Steam Deck with Proton 9.

The farthest I got was the black screen. I can hear the game running, and press buttons blind to navigate the menus and start a match. It’s running, but I can’t get rid of the black overlay.

What proton/wine version are/was you running? And did you install any redistrbutables (E.G. DirectX)
