Getting error(VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST) on launching Dota 2 (MacBook Pro + Intel chip)
Machine- HW- MacBook Pro + Intel chip OS- Sonoma
Getting error message after launching Dota 2 game from steam.
Error- Vulkan encountered unrecoverable error VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST. If on NVIDIA, try reproducing with -aftermath -aftermath_full added to your command-line to gather GPU crash dump.
SS attached.
Having the same problem. My machine is Macbook Pro 16-inch 2019 with AMD GPU. I am guessing it's a problem with Vulkan and AMD GPU.
I have the same problem Macbook pro 2015 Monetery
same bug! valve is the real clown.
same problem IMac( i9+5300+Sonoma 14.6.1)
No way to fix it?!
How long does it takes, been almost 10 days and still no solution for this. Also this is not new, everytime Dota2 comes up with some major updates, Mac always crashes out, since Dota2 does not support it properly. I am not sure if they even consider Mac in their new release testing cycle agenda.
Quite useless dev and test team. Its been almost 1.5 months and they could not even rectify this issues.
Hey everyone, I just found the solution. It turns out the GPU switching mechanism is, let's say, broken. I’m not sure why, but sometimes it switches to the Intel GPU, which doesn’t support Vulkan. To fix the problem, I downloaded gfxCardStatus for macOS and forced my MacBook to use the discrete GPU. Hope this helps!
try this, it worked for me. https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1f08fcm/temporary_fix_for_mac_users_can_play_smoothly_no/?share_id=o7QjHDJkyFJT1kGAS6OPk&utm_content=1&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1
Did not work for me. I think that fix was for event24 issue or something which was fixed pretty quickly.
The bug in this thread seems to be specific to people with Macbook Pro 16' 2019 which comes with both an Intel and AMD GPU -- and the bug happens when the GPU switch between the two.
