Full PC freeze, mouse pointer still moves
Somewhere between end of January and start of March, the game started to freeze randomly (but always within a few minutes).
When the game is frozen, I can still move the cursor, but nothing else works (I also cannot kill the game, nor do any of my window manager commands work).
I can temporarily get out of that state by suspending the laptop and unsuspending, but after a few minutes, it freezes again.
Fixed by reboot.
It breaks again after something not sure whether it's attaching (and, before starting Steam and Dota), detaching an external monitor to the laptop.
Other 3D apps on the same machine do not seem to trigger this problem.
I am pretty certain that I did not perform a system update before/after this occurring first, so I'm pretty sure that a Dota/Steam update triggered this change.
- NixOS 24.11 x86_64
- kernel 6.6.80 x86_64
- nvidia 565.77
- Intel + NVIDIA GeForce 940MX hybrid graphics on a Thinkpad T25
Any logs I can inspect or collect to investigate?
Check your dmesg output, after unsuspend. Alt + F2 and then
$ dmesg > dmesg.txt
