Keyboard input stops when pressing Enter to chat

Open wildcard-f8 opened this issue 10 months ago • 3 comments

There's this really annoying bug that began after the big update. When you press Enter to use chat, keyboard inputs stop registering for some reason. I can't type a message, I can't even press Esc or Enter to exit the chat. All I can do is use the mouse. The only fix that has worked so far is to exit the game and restart it.

Now, it doesn't happen all the time. Most of the time the game plays normally. It seems to happen like once every few hours or something. It becomes really hard to communicate if you're not using a microphone. I now have to try and avoid typing or else I might have to restart, which of course the enemy team would instantly unpause if my team paused.

I am also having this issue. The only way I can resolve it is by restarting dota when it happens, and not using in-game text chat to prevent it from happening. It happens very randomly.

I get this after the update with steam on Ubuntu 24.10

I can reliably reproduce this in demo mode on a Ryzen integrated GPU with low settings. It is related to the intensity of the keyboard input. Leaving a delay between each keystroke, chat works fine. If I press two letters simultaneously, it locks up.

Seems to have been fixed for me now :relieved:
