dota2 performance is steadily going down

Open sylware opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

I play nearly everyday to dota2. I have had the same hardware for years, and I update my 3d driver stack nearly each week. Apart from the obvious performance breakage which are usually fixed (like the yesterday patch), dota2 performance, on a constant visual quality, has been going slowly and steadily down. Big team fights are now down to 30-40 fps on my amd 8 cores 4.7GHz and amd gpu (tahiti xt), on max video settings. Also, displaying "alt" information overlay is eating away 10-20 fps. The spell level upgrade animations are killing performance, like eating tens of fps too. Is there a way to benchmark dota2 rendering in order to try to help figuring out if there are specifics for those performance losses?

Absolutely agree. The frequency of crashes has also gone up. It has come to a point that I am thinking if they can't maintain it, they should not have the Linux offering at all.

I would really like to see the results of the benchmark publicly disclosed or make Dota plus feature that allows users to submit issues. Valve seriously needs to act on the performance and stability of the game on Linux.

Well, my hardware has been much more beefy for 2 years (My previous hardware did burn... LITERALY).

dota2 is clearly more demanding than before. But I guess I'll open a new issue once I get a steady "less than 80 fps" in heavy team fights on my crazy powerful hardware.
